The results from the surveys are very interesting. Some of it jibes with what I expected, some of it does not. I was not prepared for the intensity of this answer:
This suggests that players really want to be boosting their allies. The chief concern with boosts, however, has always been stacking. 4e does a fairly decent job of doing this through the bonus types (power, feat, etc.). The problem with this is that it can sometimes be difficult to remember what is and is not a bonus of a specific type. It bogs down play and, frankly, often irritates players.
My suggestion is this: just as we have stances, we could have empowerments (if you have a better idea for a name, please let me know. I was calling them auras for a minute until I realized how confusing that would be). A character could have one empowerment and one stance active at a time. You should probably increase the power of empowerments to compensate.
What do you think?
Oh, and go take the surveys! (http://wp.me/pRSRn-u9)
